Fundamentals of nonlinear sliding velocity in microchannels under non-Newtonian regime
This research compiles knowledge essential for correct understanding of microscale electroosmotic flow phenomena under nonlinear hydrophobic sliding conditions. It begins with the definition of microfluidics, the branch of science from which the study of electrokinetic phenomena is derived and continues with key concepts for electroosmosis such as the theoretical characterization of the electric dual layer. Next, electrokinetic event occurring on hydrophobic surfaces are studied and the principles governing the characteristic equations of microchannel flow are established, as well as the boundary conditions that delimit it. Finally, the latest theoretical and scientific advances regarding microchannel fluid flow under the influence of electroosmotic phenomena and wall slip phenomena are compiled, with special emphasis on non-Newtonian fluids and nonlinear slip.
