A 12.8-Gb/s/lane, 1.03-pJ/b Transmitter With Reconfigurable Charge-Injecting Crosstalk Cancellation For Capacitively Coupled High-Density Interconnects
This paper presents a 5-lane, 12.8-Gb/s/lane single-ended transmitter (TX) with reconfigurable charge-injecting crosstalk cancellation (XTC). By employing the proposed area/power-efficient XTC encoder and coarse/fine control of charge injection, the proposed XTC scheme reduces XTC encoding overheads and obtains XTC reconfigurability. The prototype XTC TX with 3-mm on-chip channels is designed using a 28-nm CMOS process and achieves a crosstalk-induced jitter reduction ratio of 89% with a low energy efficiency of 1.03 pJ/b.
