Probing the forced vibration of floaters and oscillators in a wave energy device in a single-degree-of-freedom system with different forms of damping coefficients
In this paper, the heave motion of a floater and an oscillator in a wave energy device is investigated, and the forced vibration of a single-degree-of-freedom system under different damping coefficients is analyzed by mathematical modeling. Based on Newton's second law, the motions of the floater and oscillator are modeled and solved by the improved Runge-Kutta algorithm. By comparing the effects of two kinds of damping coefficients on the oscillatory characteristics of the system, this paper discusses the oscillatory behavior of the device in depth, and it is obtained that the difference in the form of damping does not affect the oscillatory characteristics of the system in a significant way. And the potential of the model in practical applications is verified.
