Two-dimensional graphic visualization of objects using distance measurement with ultrasonic waves
The measurement process of the echo arrival time of an ultrasonic wave allows to determine the distance to an object or surface and to graph the objects present in the environment from the position of the ultrasonic transducer. In this work, a system with two bipolar stepper motors is developed, the first for the linear displacement of a 40 KHz ultrasonic transducer and the second for the rotation of the transducer. With the value of the displacement, the angle of rotation and the distance to the objects, polar coordinates are used to visualize the environment in two dimensions in a graphical interface. To calculate the propagation speed of the ultrasonic waves, the ambient temperature is considered. The test surfaces are flat and horizontal.
