THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ORAL HEALTH-RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE AND ORAL HALITOSIS IN PATIENTS WITH SPLINTING THERAPY
Background: Periodontitis is one of the causes of tooth mobility, pain, and irreversible inflammation in the tissues supporting the teeth. Comprehensive treatment such as splinting is indicated. This condition facilitates the formation of plaque in the oral cavity, which is one of the causes of halitosis and impairs quality of life, especially oral health. This study aimed to determine the relationship between oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and halitosis in splinting therapy patients.Method: This study is cross-sectional analytical. Data were collected using the OHIP-14 questionnaire from 31 periodontitis patients after receiving splinting treatment, followed by a halitosis examination. The data were then analyzed using Spearman's correlation test. Results: The halitosis condition of subjects with score 0 was 18 (58.1%), score 1 was 8 (25.8%), score 2 was 3 (9.7%), and score 3 was 2 (6.5%). The results showed a p-value = 0.173 and r = 0.251 so there was a relationship between oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) with halitosis in splinting therapy patients. Conclusion: there is a relationship between oral quality of life (OHRQoL) and halitosis in splinting therapy patients.
