“Digital Shadows: The Interplay ofEmotional Abuse, Social Media and Suicidal Thoughtsamong Adolescents of Tripura”
This study looks at the relationship between emotional abuse, social media addiction, and suicidal thoughts in teenagers from Tripura, with a focus on gender differences. In a sample of teens between the ages of 13 and 18, the impact of emotional abuse and internet dependence on suicidal thoughts was investigated using both descriptive and inferential statistics. There are 200 participants in the sample, and all of them attend West Tripura District English-medium schools. Although regression and correlation analyses looked at the connections between these variables, descriptive statistics provided a succinct overview of how common they were. The results showed a strong positive relationship between emotional abuse, social media dependency, and suicidal thoughts, with male adolescents exhibiting stronger correlations than female adolescents. Suicidal thoughts were found to be more likely in male teenagers who were more emotionally abused and dependent on social media. Regression analysis demonstrated that attitude. These results imply that male teenagers are more susceptible to the heightened suicidal thoughts that may result from the co-occurrence of emotional abuse and excessive social media use. On the other hand, although female adolescents also encountered these problems, there was a less noticeable correlation between emotional abuse, social media addiction, and suicidal thoughts.
