The effect of project-based learning model based on differentiation learning on creative thinking skills in science learning

Creative thinking skills are one of the skills that must be mastered in the 21st century. Increasing creative thinking skills can have an effect on increasing student learning outcomes. Project based learning model based on differentiation learning can be used to develop creative thinking skills. This research was conducted to determine the effect of the project-based learning model based on differentiation learning on the creative thinking skills of the fourth-grade students at elementary school in Kaliwungu District in the 2023/2024 academic year. Quantitative approach was employed with nonequivalent quasiexperimental pretest-posttest research design and one-shot case study. The population of this study was all class IV students at the fourth-grade students at elementary school in the 2023/2024 academic year using cluster random sampling technique. Smart PLS 4 was used for data analysis. The research results are based on the inner model test with a significance value of < 0.005 (0.000 < 0.005). These results show that there is a difference in the average creative thinking skill scores after using the project-based learning model based on differentiation learning. Based on this, it can be concluded that the project-based learning model based on differentiation learning has an influence on creative thinking skills. Recommendations for future research include exploring the long-term effects of this model on creative thinking skills and its applicability in diverse educational contexts. Additionally, investigating the impact of different types of projects and differentiation strategies on various aspects of creative thinking can provide deeper insights. Implications of this study suggest that educators should consider incorporating project-based learning models that emphasize differentiation to foster creative thinking skills. Such approaches can enhance student engagement and learning outcomes, preparing students better for complex problem-solving tasks in their future academic and professional endeavors.
