The effect of the 1-year-old infant's modified nursery rhyme activity on the formation of infant's basic living habits
Objectives The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of nursery rhyme activities on the formation of basic living habits in 1-year-old infants, and to seek ways to foster the formation of basic living habits in 1-year-old infants in early childhood education settings. Methods Fifteen infants from G Workplace Daycare Center in Gyeonggi Province were randomly assigned to the experimental group, and 15 infants from C Workplace Daycare Center were randomly assigned to the comparison group. The experimental treatment was conducted twice a week for 12 weeks from May 27, 2025 to August 16, 2024. The experimental group performed nursery rhyme activities based on basic living habits, and the comparison group shared stories about basic living habits or watched fairy tales based on the standard childcare curriculum. Data processing was performed by comparing and analyzing the pre- and post-scores of the experimental and comparison groups using t-tests and using SPSSWIN 25.0. Results It was found that the modified nursery rhyme activity of 1-year-old infants had a significant difference in the formation of infants' basic living habits. This shows that the modified nursery rhyme activity is effective in improving infants' basic living habits. Conclusions The significance of this study lies in verifying the effectiveness of the three infants' modified nursery rhyme activities in forming infants' basic living habits, and suggests that it can be utilized as an effective play activity for infants in actual early childhood education settings to form basic living habits.
