Aqua Mind: Intelligent Dredging Decisions Made Easy

The progressive Dredging Analysis and Decision Support System (DADSS) adopts data based and acquired modelling methods in transforming dredging practices. Such a system allows canal managers to make clear decisions on when dredging projects should be executed, the magnitude of the projects and the viability of such ventures in the long term, after assessing the complex water flow, sedimentation characteristics, and ecology of the area. One of the areas where DADSS excels is in the prediction of the rates of sedimentation using some advanced and over enhancing algorithms. At the end, this leads to obvious savings in expenses and improvement of the canal’s functionality due to effective organizing, thus, reducing the scope of unnecessary repairs. In addition, DADSS incorporates technological, socio political and environmental aspects, which allows limiting the costs and increasing the effectiveness of the project undertaken with the maximum possible environmental protection. The DADSS system is designed in such a manner that, it has an easy to use interface that facilitates the display of data on a timely basis as well as collaboration among users. In the process, the managers are able to alter the parameters to any general dredging operation to try out different tactics, envisage the advantages and disadvantages, and determine the best strategy. Such a model enables stakeholders to make choices that can improve safety navigation, limit the expenses on servicing the structures in the water, and ensure the management of the waterways is green. Additional improvements to DADSS that we are suggesting include the inclusion of state of the art technologies such as machine learning, digital twin modeling and real time data incorporating. These spirits of technologies will enable DADSS to enhance its forecasting precision, better manage dredging activities and reduce overall adverse effects to the environment stating the case for better management of the rivers.
