Dermatoscopic findings of giant congenital melanocytic nevus with palmoplantar involvement: A case report
Congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN) are melanocytic nevi defined by their presence at birth or in the first few weeks of life. A giant congenital melanocytic nevus (GCMN) is usually defined as a melanocytic lesion present at birth that will reach a diameter ≥20 cm in adulthood. Despite its rarity, this lesion is important because it may be associated with severe complications, such as malignant melanoma, which can affect the central nervous system (neurocutaneous melanosis) and can have a major psychosocial impact on the patient and his family due to its unsightly appearance. Herein, we present a case report of GCMN in an 18-year-old male involving the palms and soles.
