IN PATIENTS DIAGNOSED WITH FEMOROACETABULAR IMPINGEMENT, DOES ORTHOPAEDIC MANUAL THERAPY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THERAPEUTIC EXERCISES, AS OPPOSED TO AN EXERCISE-ONLY APPROACH, HAVE BENEFITS?
The purpose of this case study is to present the effects of orthopedic manual therapy in conjunction with the application of specific physical exercises on a 27-year-old male patient who presented to the office complaining of low back pain, right hip pain, including right lower limb pain. For 2 years the initial diagnosis was chronic low back pain and during this time there were numerous attempts at exercise therapy but no improvement in the patient's condition. Following a new specialist consultation, the diagnosis of femoroacetabular impingement was made by clinical and imaging tests. After investigating the diagnosis of femoroacetabular impingement, the physiokinetic therapist succeeded in reproducing the patient's pain and reducing it following the orthopaedic manual therapy sessions carried out.
