CYCLING INTO KNEE REHABILITATION
Knee is one of the weight-bearing joints of the body, being frequently involved in various types of injuries, both traumatic and degenerative, whether they occur at home, in a professional setting, or during sports activities. The forces exerted at this joint can be external (muscular force or impact force) as well as internal forces, the latter of which have not been measured until recently. Incorporating cycling into rehabilitation programs of the knee presents a holistic approach to recovery, addressing both physical and mental well-being. In order to obtain an overview of the shear and load forces at the knee level, the forces were measured by a device attached to a knee implant have been analyzed throughout cycling and compared with those measured during walking, so that we can objectively assess the use of the cycling within rehabilitation programs.
