Analysis of Research Trends on MBTI Personality Types of Korean Nurses
Objectives This study aims to provide a meaningful direction in recruiting and deployment of nurses based on recent analyses conducted on the MBTI personality types in Korea. Methods A literature search was conducted on relevant reports through various database platforms such as KoreaMed, RISS, KISS, DBPIA, KCI and KMbase. The selected nine research studies were analysed using research design, subject, methodology, and measurement analysis tools. Results The results showed that the relevant literature was all quantitative studies using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and regression analysis. The most common variables were MBTI types, job satisfaction, stress level, and stress relaxation measures. The most common MBTI types in nurses were ISTJ (23.5%) and ESTJ (19.8%). Conclusions We expect there is a need for further longitudinal studies focusing on the factors associated with job satisfaction, stress level, and resignation percentage, reflecting on the deployment of nurses and their career paths using the individual MBTI personality types.
