CONSIDERATIONS FOR DEVELOPING PARAMETRIC MODELS FOR PRELIMINARY COST ESTIMATION OF WIDENING AND STRENGTHENING INTERVENTIONS IN OLD REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGES
The effective Brazilian federal highway network, built between 1940 and 1984, presents geometry and load capacity incompatible with the current traffic. Intervention actions of widening and strengthening highway bridges become necessary to promote the rehabilitation of these structures and adaptation to the mobile loads of the current standardization. By accurately estimating quantities and budgets for each service package, bridge authorities can effectively plan and allocate resources for these widening and strengthening projects. This paper presents considerations for developing parametric models for preliminary budgeting of the widening and strengthening of old reinforced concrete bridges within the Brazilian context. The methodology included defining the typology of the bridges, analyzing real rehabilitation projects provided by the DNIT (Brazilian National Department of Transport Infrastructure), and evaluating the usual solutions employed. This approach allows a detailed assessment of the services carried out, estimated quantities, and associated costs, facilitating planning and decision-making by the authorities responsible for managing the bridges.
