Spatial patterns and regionalization of cultivated land resource stability in major grain producing areas of China

The stable supply of cultivated land resources directly affects regional food security and sustainable development. Therefore, a clear and accurate grasp of the spatial distribution of cultivated land stability has become a necessary prerequisite for national food security and sustainable development of cultivated land resources construction planning. In this paper, the instability factors of cultivated land are measured comprehensively from the two angles of the fragile natural environment condition and the contradiction between man and land in social economic development, and a set of evaluation index system of cultivated land resource stability is constructed. By using remote sensing and GIS technology, entropy method, spatial analysis, multivariate statistics, econometric model, rule-based classification model and other technical methods, a set of key technologies and methods for the stability evaluation and zoning of cultivated land resources were studied and constructed from the perspectives of comprehensive integration of multiple information and automatic classification and recognition. The stability data of cultivated land resources in major grain-producing areas of China were quantitatively analyzed and evaluated under the multi-scale of districts, counties and plots, and the cultivated land with poor stability and difficult to be used stably was classified as unstable cultivated land. The pattern of unstable cultivated land in China's major grain-producing areas was extracted with a scale accuracy of 1:10,000. The results show that by 2020, there are significant spatial differences in the stability of cultivated land resources in China's main grain-producing areas, which generally show a decreasing spatial pattern from south to north and from east to west. The cultivated land area with average stability or above is above 95% in the three major grain-producing areas, which is in a stable state and the scale of unstable cultivated land is generally controllable. The methods and conclusions of the comprehensive evaluation and zoning of cultivated land stability in China established in this study can provide references for the construction planning of food security and sustainable development of cultivated land resources.
