Torque Ripple Minimization Control of Switched Reluctance Motor Based on Online Torque Sharing Function

For the problem of low torque tracking performance in the conventional torque sharing function (TSF) of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) at high speed, a new TSF that divides the commutation into two intervals is proposed to minimize the torque ripple in the article. To implement the proposed TSF scheme in a more effective conduction range at different speeds, an adaptive commutation strategy is proposed to calculate the commutation partition angle online to improve the torque tracking performance. Simulation and experimental results on a three-phase 12/8 SRM show that the proposed TSF improves the torque tracking performance at different speeds and effectively reduces the torque ripple compared to the other three TSFs.

Abstract

For the problem of low torque tracking performance in the conventional torque sharing function (TSF) of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) at high speed, a new TSF that divides the commutation into two intervals is proposed to minimize the torque ripple in the article. In interval I, the k</i>th phase is kept on so that the k-</i>1th phase tracks the phase reference torque; In interval II, the k-</i>1th phase is kept off so that the k</i>th phase tracks the phase reference torque.
