A unique presentation of triple disruption of the superior shoulder suspensory complex – A case report
We present a case of a 52-year-old male with a triple disruption of the superior shoulder suspensory complex after a bicycle accident. He sustained a right acromial fracture, coracoid process fracture, and acromioclavicular joint separation. This was treated surgically with open reduction and internal fixation of the acromial fracture, hook plate fixation of the acromioclavicular joint separation, and anatomic reduction of the coracoid without fixation. The patient achieved good outcomes clinically and radiographically at 1 year follow up. The purpose of this paper is to report our approach to a unique type of superior shoulder suspensory complex (SSSC) disruption, review the literature regarding this rare injury , and help clinicians treat similar injuries in the future.
