Evaluation of the Effect of Nano Calcium Sulphate in Treatment of Intra bony Defects In Periodontitis Patients
Aim: This study was performed to evaluate clinically and radiographically the effectof nano calcium sulphate bone graft in treatment of intra-bony defects in periodontitispatients Subjects and Methods: Twenty patients were selected from those attending atthe Outpatient clinic, Oral Medicine and Periodontology Department, Faculty of DentalMedicine, Al-Azhar University (Assiut Branch) diagnosed as periodontitis cases havingintra bony defect with probing depth > 6 mm and clinical attachment loss ≥ 5 mm. Theywere divided into two groups. Group I: included 10 periodontitis patients with intrabony defects were received open flap surgery combined with nano calcium sulphatebone graft. Group II: included 10 periodontitis patients with intra bony defects werereceived open flap debridement alone. Results: Both groups showed high statisticallysignificant differences between baseline and 6 months in all clinical parameters(PI,GI,CAL,PD) and radiographic parameter (bone density BD). There was statisticallysignificant difference in group I when compared to group II in (CAL,PD,BD) at 6 and12 months. Conclusion: Using nano calcium sulphate bone graft in treatment of intrabonydefects is effective in treatment of intra-bony defects in periodontitis patients andit is better than open flap debridement alone.
