Piperacillin tissue concentrations in the gastrointestinal tract—a microdialysis porcine study
• Target tissue piperacillin ƒT>MIC is significantly different in cecum and the greater omentum compared to plasma. • A piperacillin concentration of 16 µg/mL is reached within a mean time of 20 min in duodenum, cecum, the greater omentum and plasma. • Gastrointestinal tissue and plasma piperacillin concentrations are maintained above a high target of 16 µg/mL for a minimum of 199 min (44% of an 8-h dosing interval).
