Effective Teaching of Polish to Ukrainian Speakers
The article presents the latest data on Polish language learning among the Ukrainian community in Poland, focusing on the situation after 24 February 2022, which primarily involves refugees. Given the need for language improvement among adult refugees and the introduction of compulsory schooling for Ukrainian children and adolescents starting from 1 September 2024, the demand for teaching Polish as a Foreign Language to Ukrainians is expected to increase. In this context, it is important to revisit what we know about teaching Polish to Ukrainian speakers. Understanding how their interlanguage develops in Polish enables educators to teach this group in a more systematic, goal-oriented, and effective manner.
