Elements of Integrated Didactic Approach in Teaching/Learning French
The contemporary language pedagogy promotes pluralistic approaches, including the so-called integrated didactic approach. In Polish schools, English is taught as the first compulsory foreign language. French, as the third language of young Poles and their second foreign language, is usually introduced at secondary school. This article addresses the use of elements of integrated didactic approach in the teaching of French. After discussing the theoretical issues, the results of an analysis of twenty French textbooks for secondary school students in terms of the use of elements of integrated didactic approach are presented. The aim of the research is to gain a better understanding of the extent to which elements of integrated didactic approach are used in the textbooks analyzed and of practical solutions that can be applied in the process of learning French.
