INTERVENÇÕES FISIOTERAPÊUTICAS NO TRANSTORNO DO ESPECTRO AUTISTA: EFICÁCIA, DESAFIOS E PERSPECTIVAS FUTURAS – REVISÃO DE LITERATURA

Summary: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that presents unique and specific challenges for each patient. Physical therapy can play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of social and motor skills. The importance of a well-structured therapeutic approach, combined with interventions tailored to the individual needs of each patient, positively impacts the effectiveness of treatment. This literature review aims to provide a critical analysis of the contribution of physical therapy in the treatment of children with autism, emphasizing scientific evidence, challenges faced, and future perspectives for clinical practice and research in this field. A systematic search was conducted in the PubMed and Scopus databases over the past 10 years (2013-2023). After searching and selecting articles based on inclusion criteria, 11 articles were chosen for analysis. Thus, the results highlight that this review not only addresses the importance of physical therapy in autism but also underscores the need for further research exploring new approaches to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients with ASD and their families.
