O TRANSTORNO DE ANSIEDADE E SEU EFEITO NA TOMADA DE DECISÃO DOS JOVENS
Anxiety is considered a set of cognitive, affective, physiological and behavioral responses. According to DSM-5 (2014), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is the most common among the 11 anxiety disorders. Between 2020 and 2023 it was estimated that there was an increase in cases from 15.3% to 18.5%, the highest number of cases being among young people aged 18 to 24. This is a literature review with the aim of investigating the impact of anxiety disorder on decision-making among young people. A search for scientific articles was carried out on official websites and in databases such as SCIELO, INCA, Virtual Health Library, Ministry of Health, Online Magazine, PUBMED, during August 2024. It is concluded that GAD is a disorder with high prevalence nowadays and its symptoms cause negative impacts on an individual's development, affecting quality of life and all common interpersonal relationships throughout life. However, this anxiety, when excessive, can generate suffering and frustration, therefore, the psychologist is an extremely important professional for the treatment and reduction of symptoms.
