Subunit command procedures at section, squad, platoon and company levels

Despite dynamic changes in tactics, techniques, operating procedures and military technology on the modern battlefield, man remains the most critical factor influencing the outcome of an armed conflict. Decisions made by commanders determine military successes or failures. The effective execution of a task depends on the process during which commanders determine the course of action (COA). The effectiveness of subunit command procedures and their unification with allied armies should be a priority of the Polish Armed Forces. This article presents basic information on the current state of normative documents describing the command process at section, squad, platoon and company levels, followed by a detailed description of the techniques and methods of the US command procedure. The main objective of the article is a synthetic analysis of the possibility of applying the proposed solution in the Polish land forces.
