AVALIAÇÃO DA QUALIDADE DE VIDA E COMPROMETIMENTO FUNCIONAL EM PACIENTES COM FIBROMIALGIA ATENDIDAS NA CLÍNICA ESCOLA DE FISIOTERAPIA - UNIRG
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a potentially disabling syndrome and a rheumatological disease in which its main characteristic is chronic generalized musculoskeletal pain. The pain of FM is not only related to a lesion or pathology that affects the somatic-sensory nervous system, but is also related to a modification in the central nervous system that is comparable to an impairment of the pain-suppressing mechanisms. It is therefore characterized as dysfunctional pain. Thus, the aim of this study is to report on the quality of life and functional capacity of patients with fibromyalgia who are treated at the physiotherapy school clinic at the University of Gurupi - Unirg. A cross-sectional, descriptive, quantitative study was carried out. The data was obtained by filling in self-administered questionnaires by patients interested in taking part in the study. The epidemiological profile of the women diagnosed with fibromyalgia is that they live in urban areas, have an average age of between 50 and 60 and are retired. It can be concluded that fibromyalgia can have a negative effect on various areas of the lives of affected patients, mainly due to the generalized pain that affects quality of life and the development of daily, physical and work activities.
