Anne Turvey and the London Association for the Teaching of English
Anne Turvey played a key role in the London Association for the Teaching of English (LATE), a voluntary subject network for those involved in the teaching of English that had been founded at the Institute of Education in 1947. As Chair of the Association in the LATE 1990s and well into the 21st century, Anne helped to ensure LATE’s continued existence and relevance in the midst of challenging contexts. Having worked alongside her in the LATE organising committee for many years, this is a personal reflection on the vital contribution of Anne to LATE.
