Komunikacja z osobą z niepełnosprawnością wzroku i słuchu w codziennej pracy farmaceuty
There may be up to 7 million people affected by disabilities in Poland. People with disabilities often use medical help due to their health condition, and therefore are important and frequentcustomers of pharmacies. Appropriate communication ensures that therapeutic goals are achieved based on the patient’s values. When communicating with a deaf or hard of hearing person, you should choose a method of communication: using writing, lip reading, using Communication Cards or interpreter services, or by using an induction loop, and follow the instructions regarding the selected method. When communicating with blind and visually impaired people, you should be aware of the lack of eye contact. The patient should be informed about potential changes in his/ her environment. You should also remember that the dog accompanying them during a visit to the pharmacy is doing its job and you should not distract the animal by, for example, petting it. You can communicate with a deafblind person by touching their hand, the so-called Lorm alphabet.
