PERFIL CLÍNICO E EPIDEMIOLÓGICO DE CRIANÇAS E ADOLESCENTES PORTADORES DE HIV/AIDS NO BRASIL
The immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the etiological agent that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Since the appearance of the first cases, HIV/AIDS has been considered an emerging disease and is characterized as a public health problem due to its high transmission and clinical character. This is a literature review study, with a descriptive qualitative approach, in which articles from 2010 to 2024 were analyzed, with an emphasis on the clinical and epidemiological profile of children and adolescents with HIV/AIDS in Brazil. The results indicate that the majority of children and adolescents with HIV/AIDS are males in the age group of 15 to 19 years and although the incidence rates have remained stable over the years, attention is needed to the distribution of cases, due to the affected population.
