Gas Pipeline Failure Detection Based on the Frequency-Domain Port Model
In the integrated electricity and gas system (IEGS), a failure in the gas network may cause cascading failures in the power system, which requires the electric power control center (EPCC) to have a timely grasp of the gas failure information. In this paper, a gas pipeline failure detection model, including the leakage and the blockage failure, is proposed based on the frequency-domain port model (also known as the energy-circuit model), which only utilizes the pressure and flow measurements at the inlet and outlet of the pipeline. Firstly, the dynamic characteristic of the blockage and leakage of the pipeline is analyzed based on the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method, which provides a practical way to simulate the dynamics of the gas pipeline failure. Secondly, the frequency-domain port model of the pipeline is constructed to estimate the pressure and flow series inside the pipeline based on the border measurements, the comparison of which indicates the failure information along the pipeline. Finally, a simple numerical example is designed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method where failure occurs in a single pipeline.
