Performance of Amine-based Post-combustion CO2 Capture:Comparison of MEA and EDA

This study investigates the CO2 capture performance of various amine-based solvents, focusing on ethylenediamine (EDA) as a potential alternative to the widely used monoethanolamine (MEA) in post-combustion CO2 capture. Experiments were conducted to evaluate CO2 capture capacities and removal efficiencies under different conditions, including solvent concentrations and feed flow rates, in both batch and continuous absorption-regeneration processes. The results show that EDA demonstrates significantly higher CO2 capture capacity and removal efficiency compared to MEA, with reduced energy consumption due to lower regeneration temperature. These findings suggest that EDA is a promising candidate for improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of CO2 capture in carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.

Experiments were conducted to evaluate CO2 capture capacities and removal efficiencies under different conditions, including solvent concentrations and feed flow rates, in both batch and continuous absorption-regeneration processes. These findings suggest that EDA is a promising candidate for improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of CO2 capture in carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.
