Éducation et instruction dans le traité pédagogique, Conseils à Démonique, du rhéteur Athénien, Isocrate
Abstract. The education received has often determined the life of the Athenian citizen, that is to say of the Attic Greek man. Hence the interest of this study where Isocrates and his humanist ideal appear useful to modernity. His approach is articulated around three fundamental principles: listening, study and exercise. Through his principles which are based on a brilliant pedagogy, he wants to shape an erudite and virtuous youth. He himself appears in this undeniably timeless work as the model of the good educator, Demonic, as the learner willing to learn, to receive a moral training which predestines him to the honors of public life as a cultivated and respectable citizen.
