Assessment of renal and hematological effects of chronic Artea® fongicide exposure in Algerian agricultural workers

With the advancement of agriculture, the use of phytosanitary products is growing in popularity, as is their use in the fight against weeds, fungi, and insects. The excessive usage of hazardous chemicals across the country poses a severe risk to soil and water table contamination as well as public health. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential effects of extended occupational fungicide exposure on farmers' biomarkers of renal function. In the Souk Ahras wilaya, 60 individuals split into two groups: 30 farmers (exposed group) and 30 subjects who not exposed to agrochemicals on employment in the Tifech commune. Blood samples taken from all agricultural laborers and controls to assess renal function by measuring creatinine, urea, and uric acid. All farm workers and controls received blood samples to measure renal performance by measuring uric acid, urea and creatinine. The results showed a significant and highly significant increase in serum concentrations of uric acid and urea respectively in the farmers compared with the control group (P < 0.01; P < 0.001).However, creatinine showed no significant difference between the groups studied (P > 0.05). According to the current study's findings, farm workers who exposed to fungicide have changes in several biochemical markers, such as uric acid urea, creatinine
