Study of the Effect of Formaldehyde Fixation on Collagen Optical Properties in the Terahertz Frequency Range
The study investigated the effect of collagen fixation with formaldehyde on optical properties in the THz frequency range. The spectral characteristics transformation of protein solutions occurs due to hydrogen bonds and intermolecular interactions among the various components of the solution. Changes of the optical characteristics of collagen solutions with distilled water, 10% formalin, and 40% formalin in the frequency range from 0.2 THz to 1 THz were studied.
