IoT-Based Climate Control System for Cultivation of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) Fruiting Bag

Traditional oyster mushroom cultivation requires significant manual labor and precise environmental control for optimal growth. The study developed a system that combines soil moisture, temperature and humidity control, and an automated misting system with an IoT-based climate control system for the indoor cultivation of oyster mushroom fruiting bags, which is a smart urban farming system. The controlled system significantly increased mushroom yields, averaging 328.57g per harvest compared to 181.43g with traditional methods.Maintaining temperatures of 25C -30C, humidity levels of 70% -90%, and soil moisture between 60% and 90% in the mushroom chamber ensured consistent productivity.Comparative analysis revealed superior performance in moisture, temperature, and humidity control with the automated system, validated by t-tests (P = 0.04).These results underscore the system's effectiveness in enhancing mushroom growth, yield, and overall profitability for farmers in smart urban farming settings.
