Towards Becoming Energy-Independent Village: A Case Study of Solar Rural Electrification in Lalumpe Village, Indonesia
This study explores the potential of solar power as a means to achieve energy autonomy in a rural Indonesian village. The research involves gathering and analyzing data through the Hybrid Optimization Model for Energy Renewable (HOMER), focusing on a case study in Lalumpe, a fishing village in Indonesia.Situated on the Eastern seaboard of the Minahasa region on Sulawesi Island, Lalumpe's remote location makes it an ideal candidate for renewable energy electrification under the Energy Independent Village initiative.A comprehensive techno-economic assessment of the proposed model, which employs a centralized off-grid power station, will be conducted and presented as a recommendation for the solar energy village scheme.Future research will delve into alternative renewable energy options for the village, such as a photovoltaic hybrid system for rural electrification.
