A Study of the Modified Microscopic Model Incorporating Weather Effect and Cooperative Behavior

With advancements in science and technology, weather is not controlled by human mechanisms and disrupts various aspects of societal life. Especially in bad weather, traffic flow dynamics are severely affected. To address this issue, we develop a modified traffic model that mitigates traffic instability by building on the conventional full velocity difference (FVD) model and incorporating factors such as pulling effect and bad weather. These properties were previously absent in the FVD model, which exhibits internal traffic noise affecting the dynamics of traffic systems. To examine our proposed model, we conduct a linear stability analysis to capture the neutral stability conditions, dividing the area into three realms: stable, unstable, and metastable. Our findings demonstrate that the new model significantly outperforms the FVD model in eliminating traffic instability, offering a robust solution to maintaining stable traffic flow considering challenging weather.
