Controlling Laser Welding Process Parameters to Reduce Spatter Defects

The paper discusses the concept of creating technological conditions to reduce the intensity of spattering during laser welding by applying additional thermal energy to the material being welded. The results of experiments and simulations have shown that laser welding technology with an additional heat source for preheating leads to improved quality and stabilization of welding processes.
