MASTOCITOMA CUTÂNEO CANINO: RELATO DE CASO
The objective of this paper is to demonstrate, through the case report of an 11 years old male neutered lhasa apso and yorkshire crossbreed dog initially diagnosed via histopathological examination with grade II cutaneous mast cell tumor (Patnaik) / low grade (Kiupel) in the scrotal region, and with grade I (Patnaik) / low grade (Kiupel) by a more specific immunohistochemical examination, the essential consideration of mastocytoma diagnostic hypothesis, along with the performance of a cytopathological examination prior to the surgical excision of the tumor, is crucial given the difficulty of identifying this specific type of malignant tumor during routine clinical evaluations. Mastocytomas, in their cutaneous form, can present with any macroscopic appearance, making their identification challenging. Recognizing this diagnosis as a possibility early on enables the patient to receive the prompt and appropriate treatment that mastocytoma necessitates. Thus, through the description of the reported case, it is hoped to shed light on the importance of considering mastocytoma as a diagnostic hypothesis in any tumor, regardless of its appearance. This approach not only affects accurate diagnosis but also ensures appropriate prognosis and treatment for this pathology, potentially making the difference between the patient's recovery or decease.
