Mixed with Black: A Canadian Theatre Mixed-Race Manifesto

Drawing on her personal experience, Singh discusses the experience of exclusion of being a mixed-race theatre practitioner. Often having her diversity labelled as ‘inauthentic,’ Singh designed and installed her own small theatre and for five years programmed a canon of work from equity-deserving artists. Reflecting on her intersectional mixed-race life, Singh offers “Mixed with Black: A Canadian Theatre Mixed-Race Manifesto,” a poetic piece that challenges all theatre practitioners to include artists of mixed race, value their stories, and honour their experiences.
