Analysis of Levelized cost of storage for a prosumer - case study: Romania
The massive integration of renewable energy sources can cause grid disturbances, which can affect the continuity of energy supply. To improve the grid stability, prosumers may integrate battery energy storage systems (BESSs) in their photovoltaic (PV) systems. The aim of this paper is to determine the economic feasibility of integrating a Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery in a PV system, owned by a residential prosumer, located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The levelized cost of storage (LCOS) method is used to calculate the cost of each $\mathbf{k W h}$ generated by the battery, based on economic parameters (investment, charging and maintenance and operation costs) and technical characteristics (rated energy, yearly cycles, depth of discharge, conversion efficiency and lifetime). The PVSOL Premium 2024 software was employed to determine the charge and discharge energy of the BESS. The results revealed that the LCOS of the analyzed Li-ion battery is 28.7c €/kWh.
