The Influence of Target Color on the Measurement of the Distance Using LiDAR Sensor
The multitude of applications based on LiDAR sensors has determined the proliferation of studies on the influencing factors of distance measurement errors. Light, temperature, weather conditions can influence the accuracy of the sensor. The present paper shows the analysis of the distances measurements using the LiDAR sensor when the color of the target object is changed. The test system uses a LiDAR Lite v3 sensor and five objects of different colors but of the same size. The objects are positioned at a fixed distance from the sensor and the relative error is calculated after the entire data acquisition process. This study brings benefits in all LiDAR applications that are used during the night, or in unfavorable weather conditions.
