Comparative Analysis of Signals Impacting Electromagnetic Compatibility in a Control Circuit
Maintaining performance and preventing electromagnetic interference (EMI) in electronic systems requires electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference compliance. In order to determine the influence of signal parameters on EMC/EMI in a mixed signal (low/high current, analog/digital) module, the frequency spectra, harmonic content, rise and fall times, and voltage levels of signals are compared for four different boards. We investigate the effects of variations of these parameters on EMI/EMC in the time and frequency domains. The results provide actionable insights for design improvements by highlighting the signal attributes that most significantly contribute to EMC/EMI problems. The study shows possible improvements of EMC/EMI performances.
