Waste Minimization in Corrugated Sheets Manufacturing: A Statistical Approach for Optimal Operating Conditions
The waste management of the corrugated packaging business is a significant concern because of its poor profit margins and competitive nature. By using statistical correlation and linear regression analysis to identify and quantify the relationships between key operating parameters-specifically, glue viscosity and steam pressure-and waste generation, this study presents a novel approach to waste minimization in the manufacturing of corrugated sheets. Through a methodical examination of the causes of nonconforming sheets at XYZ Corporation, the study offers practical recommendations for streamlining manufacturing procedures. The authors separated training and validation datasets, used a controlled experimental design, and performed robustness checks to prevent data leakage and improve the dependability of the results. These approaches not only guarantee the accuracy of the statistical analysis but also advance our knowledge of the dynamics of waste generation. To attain ideal working conditions that reduce waste, the study suggests keeping glue viscosity between 55 and 65 and steam pressure at 10 bars. This research strengthens the competitive position of the corrugated packaging industry in a market increasingly focused on sustainability while addressing urgent environmental concerns related to packaging waste by aligning with the concepts of the circular economy. The findings underscore the importance of continuous innovation and optimization in manufacturing processes to promote resource efficiency and environmental stewardship.
