PV- VSG Power Optimizer for Urban Buildings with Improved Flexible Power Point Tracking Control
Power optimizer is a highly promising structure for photovoltaic (PV) power generation. More solar energy will integrate into the grid through power optimizers because of their low cost and high efficiency. The substantial integration of renewable energy into the grid can reduce grid inertia. To provide enough inertia, Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) control is introduced to power optimizers. This combination allows power optimizers, which are highly economical and efficient, to have frequency support ability. This paper proposes a novel PV-VSG power generation system based on power optimizer structure, using Flexible Power Point Tracking (FPPT) to enable it to maintain reserve capacity during operation. Buildings in cities are suitable for this system, which is not equipped with energy storage The simulation results verify the system's tolerance to partial shading and frequency support ability.
