Evaluation of Electric Vehicle Performance Based on High-Fidelity Modeling and Experimental Testing
Recently, electric vehicles have been obsessed a big share of research and development to use their benefits in good energy usage. Researchers exert many efforts to develop electric vehicles as a substitute for conventional vehicles. Some of these efforts focus on how to model the vehicle to match the real one. As a first stage in vehicle design, many researchers work on modeling the EV using several simulation techniques with different software. Modeling the vehicle makes it easy for the developer to study the vehicle's performance under different road conditions. This paper evaluates electric vehicle performance via high-fidelity software besides results from dyno experimental tests under different road conditions. The EV model is built based on the equations of motion of the vehicle and the equations represent the battery and the motor model. The model is tested under the same conditions used to test the EV on chassis dyno. The recorded data from the dyno control system is extracted and compared with the model results using MATLAB/Simulink. The conducted experiment revealed a clear proximity of (79.7– 98.9)% between the simulation and measured results. The revealed work offers a useful benchmark for an accurate evaluation of further drivelines.
