Functional Testing for a Lower Limb Rehabilitation Robotic System
This paper presents the functional testing of a robotic system for the rehabilitation of the lower limbs that local therapists need. The local therapists needed a passive and active rehabilitation robotic system (RRS) for the lower limbs (hip, knee, and ankle joints). Tests and the comprehensive risk analysis for this experimental model of the RRS are presented, showing possible risks and identifying the hazards that could cause patients’ injuries. From the very first design and development steps, the aim of the research was to make the system safe for users, with a thorough risk analysis providing reassurance of its safety.
