Design of an Axial Flux Machine with Distributed Winding for Automotive Applications: Comparison of Different Rotor Structures
In this paper, the authors present a methodology for the design of axial flux permanent magnet synchronous machines (AFPMs) for electric vehicle applications. The primary objective is to analyze the design choices involved in developing a machine for an electric drivetrain, considering factors such as machine topology, stator and rotor structure, and the implications of the industrial manufacturing process.
