Influences of Oscillation Energy Propagation in Power Systems with high-Percentage Renewables
The increasing integration of renewable energy into the power grid has heightened the impact of its volatility and unpredictability. Concurrently, renewable energy sources are progressively contributing to voltage/frequency support, while also being vulnerable to various grid disturbances. This complexity amplifies the dynamic behavior of the power system, posing a significant challenge to its stable operation. However, the propagation characteristics and attenuation mechanisms of oscillation energy in the power grid remain unclear. Therefore, this paper firstly constructs a mathematical model of oscillation energy in power systems based on the chain system and derives the dispersion relationship of different frequency disturbances. Secondly, the attenuation characteristics of oscillation energy are closely related to power flow direction and line resistance through the dispersion relation. Finally, the correctness of the theoretical derivation and related conclusions is verified based on numerical simulations.
