Coordinated Electric Vehicle Charging Control Considering Expected Charge Curve

With the number of electric vehicles (EVs) increasing, uncoordinated charging loads of EVs have placed a great burden on the grid. To address this problem, a large number of studies have focused on the coordinated charging of EVs. However, previous studies usually assume that EVs charge at rated power, which does not always conform with the real case due to multiple uncertainties. By incorporating the expected charge curve (ECC) of EVs, a more precise control of EV charging loads can be achieved. In this context, this paper proposes a coordinated EV charging control strategy considering ECC in residential areas. Firstly, a charging load control framework utilizing smart meters is proposed. Secondly, the paper develops the coordinated charging power scheduling strategy based on ECC. Finally, the strategy is verified via real-world charging and residential load data in Hangzhou, China. The results indicate that the strategy effectively reduces EV users' costs, peak load, and peak-valley difference.
