Study on the Layout Planning of Urban Electric Vehicle Charging and Swapping Facilities

As the number of new energy electric vehicles continues to rise, the urgent need for charging facilities is becoming increasingly apparent. Rational planning and layout of charging facilities in urban areas can promote the development of new energy electric vehicles and ensure the efficient use of urban resources. This paper addresses the lack of demarcated service areas for charging stations in existing research on electric vehicle charging and swapping facility layout planning, which makes the results less intuitive. Using a specific region as a case study, we propose a new approach to the lay-out planning of charging facilities in this area based on data analysis and the current status of charging facilities. Firstly, we forecasted the charging demand in the area. Following this, we conducted an in-depth analysis of the number of charging stations and charging piles, and the selection of sites. Based on this analysis, we proposed layout planning methods tailored to different types of charging facilities. Finally, we provided recommendations for the planning, construction, and renovation of the supporting power grid, with the aim of offering valuable insights for future research and practical planning efforts.
